The Substance Abuse Mental Health Services Administration has designated September as National Recovery Month. Yearly, celebrations and events are held across the country in recognition of this noteworthy acknowledgment of people in long-term recovery! The Big Texas Rally for Recovery has been to Austin, Houston, and Dallas…..This year we are coming to GALVESTON!
The Big Texas Rally for Recovery started in 2010, on the steps of the state capitol building. The Rally was sponsored by Texas Recovers, a non-profit, state-wide recovery advocacy organization for four years. Due to the growth and popularity of the Rally, and the grassroots efforts to promote recovery, the Rally has been hosted in other great Texas cities. This year, Brazos Place and Kemah Palms Recovery, along with the statewide Recovery Oriented Systems of Care are proud to host the 2017 Big Texas Rally for Recovery!
This is a Call to Action for Galveston and the gulf coast area to demonstrate that recovery works! There are over twenty- three million individuals in the United States that are in long term recovery from substance use disorders and/or mental health issues. There are many of us that want the world to know that not only is recovery possible, but that we are living, breathing examples of recovery. If you are in recovery, know someone in recovery, work in a venue that promotes recovery, or even if you are just interested in recovery, please join us Friday, October 6th and Saturday, October 7th, 2017, at the Moody Garden Convention Center. Let’s make this the biggest, brightest Recovery Rally that Texas has ever seen! TOGETHER WE CAN DO THIS!!
